Frequently Asked Questions:
- Do I have to worry about getting seasick? No, we primarily fish inside the bay where the waters are protected so that there are rarely ever any rough seas. In 15 years I have had only one person get seasick.
- What kind of fish do we fish for? We fish for many types of fish including tarpon, snook, redfish, cobia, shark, grouper, snapper, flounder, jack crevalle, kingfish, Spanish mackerel, and more. When fishing here in Tampa Bay you never know what you might hook into. If you would like to target a certain species please discuss this with us and we can tailor you trip.
- How deep is the water? The average water depth is about 4 feet. Depending on the target species we can fish in water from 2 to 60ft deep. We can catch very large fish in very shallow water here. We sometimes catch 200lb tarpon in only 6 feet of water.
- How big is the boat? The boat is a 24ft center console. It is very wide and roomy. We can easily fish 4 anglers with no trouble. The boat is very stable and takes the seas very well. The boat has a t-top that provides shade. Overall it is a very comfortable boat to fish from and a great many of my past customers have praised the boat.
- What kind of bait do we use? We primarily use live bait which consists of sardines, herring, pinfish, and shrimp.
- Is there a restroom onboard? No, but we are never too far from the shore where there are facilities. Its never been a problem for anyone, we can get you back in minutes.
- Can I take some fish home for dinner? Yes, you are welcomed to take any legal fish with you. I will clean and bag these for you at the end of the trip. Please be aware that the limits here in Florida are very tight these days and you cannot expect to take home a cooler full of fillets. Most of the fish will be released due to size limits/season closure. But on an average day you can certainly keep enough fish for a nice dinner.
- What about the weather? We will look at the weather the evening prior to your trip. Due to insurance reasons, if there are small craft warnings up we must cancel the trip. Otherwise we will use our best judgment. If the trip is cancelled there will of course be no charge.
- What should I bring? Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, rain gear (if it looks like it might rain), and whatever you might want to eat or drink. You can bring a medium sized cooler if you like. I have a large cooler onboard that can hold you drinks and lunch. Please refrain form bringing too much onboard as space is a premium on a boat. Some people show up with enough stuff to spend a week.
- Please do not wear soft dark soled shoes as these leave scuff marks on the deck which are hard to remove.
